A.R.T. – ALTER REPAIR TRANSFORM

10:00am – 6:00pm: Wed – Thu; 10:00am – 5:00pm: Fri
Encouraging a new generation to think of clothes as a permanent feature rather than a disposable convenience, we will be presenting an alternative area within CIFF, during next Copenhagen Fashion Week – 29th to 31st of January 2020, a project by Kristian W. Andersen (CIFF’s Chief Innovation Officer),  Stavros Karelis, Estethica, The Bear Scouts and Lee, looking at clothing longevity as a set of practical techniques, and a set of mindful principles.
From small individual actions to up-scaled fashion design solutions, we will present the concept of repairing, mending and transforming as both innovation and philosophy.
In an industry hell bent on excess, where our ready-to-wear has become ready-to-waste, we show the value of creativity in making our clothes last a lifetime, unravelling a rich tapestry of past wisdoms and modern technologies that will help us to imagine a more sustainable future, where clothes that are bought are cherished and repaired.
Our Designers in Residence, Bethany Williams and Duran Lantink will showcase their collections and/or installations (site specific and made using Lee’s deadstock denim and denim innovation fabrics) and take participating visitors through their inspiration during a 3 day program of curated conversations, demonstrations and workshops, which will address creative solutions as well as industry perspectives, including targeted talks on denim innovation and best practice by Lee.
